Digital File - Now Checked Out Dialog
The "Now Checked Out"
dialog provides you with a quick, easy way to manage the
digital items that are currently locked for your exclusive
editing. Using iKE, you check out a digital item simply by
double-clicking it. Once checked out, no one but you can make
changes to the digital item.
Double-clicked digital items are listed in the "Now Checked
Out" dialog. Once you've finished your editing, click the
green checkmark next to the item. iKE will update the digital
item in the digital file and then release your edit lock.
If you double-click on a digital item that someone else is
editing, iKE will notify you who has the item checked out.
You can then view a read-only version of the digital item,
but you will not be able to save any changes to that item.
And since someone else has checked out the item, it will not
be added to your "Now Checked Out" dialog.
If you check out a digital item and haven't made any changes
to that item (or if you'd like to discard the changes you've
made), click the red X next to the item and iKE will release
your edit lock. Other users (that have access) can then check
out the item for editing.
To see whether a digital item is edit-locked by another user,
you can right-click on the item and select the
Properties menu item. The item's status is listed at
the top of the Properties dialog.
Editing digital items
while offline
Let's say that you've got a plane
trip coming up and you've got some documents you need to
update in transit. Just check out each of the digital items
you need to bring with you (by double-clicking on them).
While they're listed in the "Now Checked Out" dialog, they're
available for editing whether you're connected to the
Internet or not! And when you return from your trip, you can
check those updated documents back in.
